The Indonesian government is facing pressure to change how it handles food poisoning cases tied to its school meals programme. The MBG Watch Coalition has criticised the current case-by-case strategy, arguing that a more comprehensive approach is required to protect students.
According to Food Safety News, the coalition is urging officials to formally declare a food safety emergency or an official outbreak. This follows the launch of a free nutritious meal initiative in January 2025.
