Refund and Cancellation Policy
This Refund and Cancellation Policy details when and how you can cancel your subscription to The Yum Pandemic, and your eligibility for refunds under global consumer protection laws.
1. Subscription Cancellation
- Cancellation Route: You can cancel your subscription at any time by going to your Account Settings and clicking "Cancel Subscription", which redirects to our secure Stripe Customer Portal.
- Access Retention: When you cancel, the cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period (monthly or annual). You keep all paid benefits and features until your paid-through date.
- No Cancellation Fees: We do not charge any cancellation or termination fees.
- Reactivation: You can re-enable your subscription at any time before the end of the billing period to prevent access loss.
2. Refund Eligibility for Digital Services
- General Rule Outside Statutory Rights: Refunds outside a mandatory withdrawal, cancellation, service-quality, duplicate-payment, or other non-waivable consumer right are reviewed under this policy and are not automatically available merely because a billing period was partly used.
- No Pro-rata Refunds After the Withdrawal Window: After any applicable statutory withdrawal period, we do not ordinarily provide pro-rata refunds or credits for a partially used monthly or annual subscription period, unless mandatory law or this policy requires a remedy.
- Country Mismatch: We may stop activation or renewal and cancel or refund a transaction where the declared country of residence, available request-country signal, or billing country supplied to Stripe or Link is missing, unsupported, or inconsistent. This control does not reduce any mandatory refund, withdrawal, tax or consumer right.
- Support Review: We manually review exceptional billing issues (e.g., accidental duplicate billing or service unavailability) on a case-by-case basis. Contact Email us within 7 days of the transaction.
3. EU & UK Statutory 14-Day Withdrawal Right
- Withdrawal Right: If you reside in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your subscription contract within 14 days of activation without giving a reason. See Regional Legal Annexes for details.
- No Launch Waiver: We do not ask eligible EU, EEA, or UK residents to waive this initial 14-day right at checkout. Paid features may be used during the period without removing the online withdrawal route.
- How to Claim: Open your Subscription Account and select "Withdraw from contract" before the displayed deadline. The system records the submission time, sends a durable email acknowledgement, ends paid access, and initiates a full refund of the initial subscription payment. You may also email Email us within the same period. We process the refund without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving the request.
4. Billing Disputes and Chargebacks
- Support First: We ask that you contact Email us to resolve billing questions or disputes before contacting your bank or card issuer.
- Dispute Suspensions: If a bank chargeback or dispute is initiated, we reserve the right to temporarily suspend your paid subscription access and review your account details while the dispute is pending.
5. Failed Payments and Account Status
- Grace Warnings: In the event of a failed recurring payment, we allow a 3-day grace period. You will receive system notifications and emails requesting payment method updates.
- Access Restrictions: If payment is not resolved within 3 days, your account is downgraded to Free status. No refunds are due for the period of restricted access resulting from failed payment.
6. Non-Excludable Consumer Guarantees
- Statutory Rights: This policy does not exclude, limit, or modify any non-waivable statutory rights or guarantees under applicable local laws. For country-specific guides, see Regional Legal Annexes.
- Australian Consumer Law (ACL): For Australian consumers, our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a refund or remedy for a major failure of the service. See Regional Legal Annexes for Australian guidelines.
- UK Consumer Rights Act: For UK consumers, digital services must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If the service fails to meet these standards, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund. See Regional Legal Annexes for UK guidelines.
7. Refund Liability Cap
- Maximum Refund Exposure: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, any refund, credit, or monetary remedy under this policy is limited to the subscription amount you paid for the subscription period affected by the issue.
- No Additional Losses: We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or additional losses arising from cancellation, downgrade, failed payment, or refund decisions, except where such liability cannot legally be excluded.
- Consumer Rights Savings: Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable statutory refund or consumer guarantee rights that apply in your country of residence.
