Regional Legal Annexes

These Regional Legal Annexes contain country-specific legal overrides, compliance policies, tax rules, age gates, and alcohol restrictions for users of The Yum Pandemic.

1. Scope and Priority

If you are accessing the Platform from a country or state listed below, these Regional Annexes supplement the main Terms of Use and Subscription Terms. In the event of a conflict, the terms of the applicable Regional Annex will prevail to the extent of your local mandatory consumer laws.

2. Cyprus and the European Union

  • Minimum Age: The Platform applies a global 16+ account rule. We do not permit under-16 accounts, and no exception is currently available for younger users, even where local law would allow a lower digital-consent age.
  • Withdrawal Right: Eligible EU and EEA residents have a 14-day right to withdraw from an initial subscription without giving a reason. We do not ask you to waive this launch right at checkout.
  • Online Withdrawal Function: During the withdrawal period, your Subscription Account provides a continuously available "Withdraw from contract" function. It records the submission time, sends a durable email acknowledgement, ends paid access, and initiates a full refund of the initial subscription payment.
  • Tax Display: Prices displayed to EU consumers at checkout will show applicable Value Added Tax (VAT) in Euro (EUR) or local currency.
  • AI Transparency: Recipes and images generated via AI on the Platform must be labelled in accordance with the EU AI Act.

3. United Kingdom

  • Consumer Rights Act 2015: Digital subscription services must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. UK users are entitled to standard statutory remedies (repair, replacement, or refund) for non-compliant services.
  • Cooling-Off: UK users have a 14-day right to withdraw from an initial subscription under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. We do not ask you to waive this launch right at checkout; use the online withdrawal function in your Subscription Account during the displayed period.
  • Subscription Reminders: We provide UK users with billing and renewal notifications in compliance with current and forthcoming UK subscription rules.
  • Alcohol Age Gate: Alcohol-themed recipes and promotions are restricted to UK users who are at least 18 years old.

4. United States

  • US Auto-Renewal: Checkout identifies the recurring price, billing interval, automatic renewal, and cancellation route before purchase. You can stop future renewal online through the Stripe Customer Portal. Applicable state cancellation and refund rights remain unaffected.
  • COPPA Compliance: The Platform is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
  • DMCA Agent: To report copyright infringement under 17 U.S.C. § 512, send notices to Email us. We operate a strict repeat-infringer suspension policy.
  • Sales Tax: Local and state sales taxes are calculated and collected by Stripe at checkout based on your ZIP code.

5. Canada

  • Provincial Protections: Automatic renewal disclosures and cancellation processes comply with Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and other provincial consumer laws.
  • Quebec French Wording: In compliance with Quebec's Charter of the French Language, French-language Terms of Use and customer support channels are provided for users in Quebec.
  • Anti-Spam (CASL): Marketing emails will only be sent to Canadian users who have given express or implied consent under CASL guidelines.
  • GST/HST: Federal and provincial sales taxes (GST/HST/PST) are calculated and shown at checkout.

6. Australia and New Zealand

  • ACL Consumer Guarantees: Australian users have non-excludable guarantees under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010. If our service suffers a major failure, you are entitled to cancel and receive a refund.
  • Unfair Contract Terms (UCT): Our Terms are drafted to comply with UCT guidelines, ensuring that liability limits, indemnities, and cancellation rules do not cause a significant imbalance in rights.
  • New Zealand Rights: New Zealand users retain all non-waivable statutory rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.
  • GST Display: Displayed prices at checkout include Australian/New Zealand GST where required by law.

7. Alcohol-Restricted Jurisdictions

  • Content Restriction: We dynamically block and hide alcohol-related recipes, spirits, cocktail mixing tutorials, and beverage profiles for users accessing the site from countries with strict legal prohibitions on alcohol (including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Brunei, Iran, and restricted parts of Southeast Asia).
  • Age Gate Thresholds: Where alcohol content is legally permitted subject to age gates, we apply local age limits (18 in the UK/EU, 21 in the United States, 17 in Cyprus).

8. Sanctioned and Restricted Countries

  • Export Control Compliance: The Platform, its paid features, and integrated AI services are unavailable to users located in comprehensively sanctioned countries (including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine).
  • Managed Payments Coverage: New Checkout and renewal are limited to customer countries covered by the current Stripe Managed Payments policy for this digital subscription. The coverage may change when Stripe changes its supported-country list.
  • Country Accuracy: You are solely responsible for honestly and accurately declaring and maintaining your country of residence and providing a matching billing country to Stripe or Link. Missing, unsupported, or inconsistent country information may stop Checkout, activation or renewal and may result in cancellation or refund.
  • Mandatory Duties: The country declaration does not transfer any non-waivable indirect-tax, invoicing or consumer-law obligation from The Yum Pandemic to you.
