Philippines bans UK beef imports

A case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy in Scotland has led to a trade ban on British beef.

The Philippines has implemented a ban on beef imports from the United Kingdom. This decision follows the discovery of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, commonly known as BSE, in a cow located in Scotland.

According to Food Safety News, the ban was triggered by a report from Dr Christine Middlemiss. Dr Middlemiss serves as the chief veterinary officer at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
