The European Commission has acknowledged that the American peanut industry has implemented significant measures to better control exports sent to Europe. These efforts follow a period of frequent notifications regarding aflatoxin contamination.
According to Food Safety News, an audit by DG Sante was scheduled for March 2026. This move was prompted by regular alerts issued through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed.
Despite the noted improvements, the European Commission warns that aflatoxin contamination continues to be a persistent issue for the sector.
