Djibouti has teamed up with the World Bank to launch the AgriConnect Compact. This strategic initiative is designed to significantly decrease the nation's reliance on foreign food sources by boosting domestic production.
According to Food Business Africa, the programme focuses on several key pillars to achieve its goals. These include the development of stronger producer organisations and the improvement of animal health services.
The compact also intends to upgrade agricultural infrastructure and provide better access to finance for local farmers. These measures are expected to create a more resilient and self sufficient food system within the country.
