Danone and Arcor have finalised a jointly controlled dairy business in Argentina. The deal integrates Danone's local activities with dairy producer Mastellone Hermanos, resulting in equal ownership for both partners. The agreement also includes the integration of Logistica La Serenísima, a logistics subsidiary.
According to FoodNavigator Europe, the move creates an integrated platform designed to prioritise distribution, innovation, and the production of higher-value dairy goods. This strategic shift increases Danone's presence within one of its primary Latin American markets.
The venture arrives during a period of volatility for the Argentine dairy sector. While competitors such as Saputo are reducing their presence and SanCor faces ongoing financial difficulties, Danone and Arcor aim to capture a larger share of the market.
