The UK fresh produce sector has raised concerns regarding a potential agreement with the European Union. The industry body argues that aligning sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) rules could simply shift the costs of border checks elsewhere.
According to a report from Just Food, the group believes that while a deal might ease some pressures, the financial weight of these inspections would likely fall on imports arriving from countries outside of the EU bloc.
