A former contractor has faced sentencing after admitting to fraudulent activity regarding food safety inspections in England. Lily Yirenkyi was hired as a temporary Environmental Health Officer by Thurrock Council in 2020.
According to Food Safety News, concerns regarding her professional conduct were raised by the environmental health team within weeks of her appointment. These issues led to the discovery that hygiene checks had been faked.
