Bright and Briny: A Mediterranean Tuna Salad

Finely dicing crisp red pepper and cucumber creates a textural foundation that elevates humble tinned tuna into something truly vibrant and refreshing. The small, uniform pieces ensure every forkful delivers a balanced medley of garden freshness and lean ocean protein, whilst minced shallot weaves a subtle sharpness throughout the bowl.

A bright dressing of white wine vinegar and Dijon mustard cuts cleanly through the fish, creating a lively counterpoint to the rich olive oil. Briny capers scatter little bursts of saline intensity amongst the vegetables, and if you choose to crumble over the feta, its creamy saltiness rounds out the acidity beautifully. The salad remains equally satisfying without the cheese, making it naturally dairy-free when needed.

Prep Ahead Friendly

This dish comes together in mere minutes, yet stores brilliantly for up to three days in the refrigerator. The vegetables maintain their satisfying crunch whilst the flavours meld and deepen overnight, making it ideal for busy weekday lunches or impromptu picnics.

Serve it piled high on toasted sourdough, stuffed into ripe beef tomatoes, or simply spooned over crisp gem lettuce. However you present it, this Mediterranean-inspired bowl brings a taste of coastal sunshine to your table with minimal effort and maximum nourishment.
