Sugar production has officially resumed across Tanzania as factories reopen their doors. The move comes after several months of significant shortages that impacted the local market.
According to Food Business Africa, the disruptions were caused by delays in both harvesting and milling processes. The restart of these operations is expected to stabilise the supply chain.
Industry observers hope that the increased output will lead to lower prices for consumers who have struggled with the recent scarcity of the sweetener.
