Swimming Pool Risk at Taylor Farms Site

An FDA assessment suggests a public swimming complex near a lettuce operation may pose a Cyclospora threat.

A public swimming complex located next to a Taylor Farms lettuce operation has been identified as a potential source of Cyclospora cayetanensis. The concern follows an outbreak that sickened hundreds of individuals across Nebraska and Iowa in November 2013.

According to a report from Food Safety News, the FDA conducted an environmental assessment of the Taylor Farms de México processing plant in Guanajuato. The findings led to specific recommendations for the company to investigate the risks posed by the adjacent facility.
