The World Health Organisation has reported that global efforts to combat foodborne diseases are not progressing quickly enough. During the 79th World Health Assembly, the organisation provided an update on the Global Strategy for Food Safety.
According to data highlighted by Food Safety News, there has been a gradual improvement in the capacity of countries to monitor these illnesses. However, the current level of surveillance remains below the required targets to ensure global food safety.
