Pork Prices Diverge Between Farms and Shops

Retail pork costs are climbing despite a significant drop in wholesale pig prices.

Shoppers are facing higher costs for pork even as the prices paid to farmers fall. Data from the AHDB indicates that the average price abattoirs pay for pigs in the UK has dropped by 14.2% compared to last year.

However, this decrease is not being passed on to consumers. An analysis by The Grocer reveals that the average retail price for pork has actually increased by 5.8%.
