Global food banks have experienced a significant increase in the amount of fruit and vegetables received over the past year. According to a report from The Grocer, donations from farms and packhouses have jumped by 55 per cent.
This rise in contributions is driven by a concerted effort from agricultural producers to prevent crops that are deemed unsellable from going to waste. By redirecting these goods to food banks, farmers are ensuring that surplus produce reaches those in need rather than being discarded.
